2026 Commencement Address

Peter Stuursma ’93 — associate professor of kinesiology instruction and Hope’s head football coach — addressed Hope’s Class of 2026 on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the Ray and Sue Smith Stadium in Holland, Michigan. It was the 161st commencement for , which celebrated 815 graduates — the largest graduating class in Hope’s history.

Hope Leaders, Students Speak to Michigan House Subcommittee

The Michigan Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and Community Colleges heard from several students, presidents, staff and others across Michigan Independent Colleges and Universities (MICU) campus members, who advocated for continued investment in state financial aid programs to benefit all learners. The activity was part of MICU’s annual Advocacy Day.

Knickerbocker Theatre Hosts Four Katharine Hepburn Films Beginning May 11

The Knickerbocker Theatre will present legendary actress Katharine Hepburn as part of its Classic Film Series. Highlighting some of her most iconic performances from the late 1930s through the 1940s, the series will feature one film each week on Monday evenings at 7 p.m., from May 11 through June 1.

Two Free, Live Dance Events Held at Pillar Church on May 2

In collaboration with Pillar Church, Lindsey Hanson – alumna and associate professor of dance — and The Creative Arts Collective present a live dance event titled “Benediction,” on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Pillar Church downtown Holland.
