Hope Hosts 2026 Black History Month Lecture on Feb. 24

Dr. Derrick Bines, assistant professor in the department of counseling at San Francisco State University, will present a lecture titled, “We All We Got: Self and Community Care are More Than Buzzwords.” Dr. Bines will speak on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 3:30 p.m. in the recital hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts. The public is invited and admission is free.

, Western Theological Seminary to Host Nicene Creed Panel and Rare Book Event

In honor of the 1,700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed, and Western Theological Seminary (WTS) will co-host a panel discussion titled “Faith in Manuscript: Celebrating 1700 Years of the Nicene Creed” on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. at Hope’s Van Wylen Library. This interactive event will feature a faculty panel followed by a period of hands-on discovery, where the public can explore a curated treasure trove of rare books connected to the history and dissemination of the Creed.

Hope Art Professor Hosts “Thick and Thin” Art Exhibit Jan. 16-Feb. 17

Lisa Walcott — associate professor of art — will host a four-week art exhibit at the De Pree Art Gallery on campus from Jan. 16-Feb. 17, 2026. She’ll also open the exhibit by hosting an artist talk on Friday, Jan. 16 in Graves Hall (in Winants Auditorium) at 5:30 p.m., followed by a reception at De Pree Art Gallery at 6:30 p.m.

The Registrar’s Office is pleased to announce Dean’s List recipients for the spring semester. The Dean’s List is awarded to full-time, degree-seeking students who have received grades for all courses in a given semester (no incompletes) and have a semester GPA of 3.50 or above.

StrikeTime Dance Theatre Presents “Journey Through Imagination” on Jan. 16 & 17

The dance affiliate StrikeTime Dance Theatre will present a live dance event for children titled “Journey Through Imagination” on Fri., Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. and Sat., Jan. 1​7, at ​2 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland. This free performance is open to all ages and especially welcomes children and those with a child-like spirit who are interested in celebrating the power of dance, art, reading and community.

The Department of Theatre was selected to perform “Havurah” by Margot Connelly, during the Region III American College Theatre Festival (ACTF), which will be held in Madison, Wisconsin, from Tues., January 6 through Sun., January 11. Hope will perform at the Mitchell Theatre at the University of Wisconsin–Madison on Wed., January 7 at 3:30 p.m. and on Thurs., January 8 at 11 a.m.
