Neave Trio

The 换妻社区 Great Performance Series welcomes the Grammy-nominated Neave Trio featuring violinist Anna Williams, cellist Mikhail Veselov, and pianist Eri Nakamura on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Jack H. Miller Center.

Since its formation in 2010, the Neave Trio has earned international acclaim for performances described as 鈥減assion, vibrancy and a riot of colours鈥 (The Strad) and 鈥減erformances [that] balance passion with sensitivity and grace鈥 (BBC Music Magazine). Their work combines innovative programming, championing new works by living composers, and interdisciplinary collaborations across music, dance, and visual art.

The concert is also part of the Dept. of Music鈥檚 鈥淲hat is American Music?鈥 celebration throughout the academic year. The Neave Trio鈥檚 program includes two American composers and a work by a British composer written after he visited the United States.

The program includes:

  • Reena Esmail: Piano Trio
  • Gabriela Lena Frank: Four Folk Songs
  • Samuel Coleridge-Taylor: Five Negro Melodies for Piano Trio

The Trio has performed at major venues worldwide, including Lincoln Center鈥檚 Mostly Mozart Festival, Carnegie Hall鈥檚 Weill Recital Hall, Smithsonian American Art Museum, 92nd Street Y, and festivals in the U.K., the Netherlands, Russia, and Canada. They have held residencies at Brown University, University of Virginia, Longy School of Music of Bard College, San Diego State University, and the Banff Centre.

Neave Trio鈥檚 recordings include the 2025 release La Mer (Chandos Records), featuring French-inspired works, and the Grammy-nominated Musical Remembrances (2022). Their previous albums have been widely praised by publications such as The Strad, The Times, and Stereophile.

The trio鈥檚 name honors Niamh (鈥淣eave鈥), the daughter of a late friend whose experience with the trio inspired their mission: to engage, to exchange, and to connect through music.
